My complaint is that it is much slower to evolve than C#.

Java is another kettle of fish. I think Java will die more quickly than C++ due to design flaws (eg no delegates) and slowness to evolve (eg still does not have lambdas).
Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09583922517961948560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7237530825191390698.post-14966772478506044742013-09-21T19:08:45.702+10:002013-09-21T19:08:45.702+10:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08408283091374012476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7237530825191390698.post-14268719378317302632013-09-16T15:13:23.600+10:002013-09-16T15:13:23.600+10:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02300767181472799835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7237530825191390698.post-11589173324850641462013-07-06T00:06:09.097+10:002013-07-06T00:06:09.097+10:00I am not sure I agree with you entirely. Its just frustrating that it takes so long to get new useful features, like lambda functions.

BTW I read your blog and don't entirely agree. I admit C++ has its problems, but Java has its own set of problems. Let's just agree that no language is perfect.Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09583922517961948560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7237530825191390698.post-57623759344343979872013-06-17T04:31:26.065+10:002013-06-17T04:31:26.065+10:00I can say I very much agree with you about C++11 b...I can say I very much agree with you about C++11 being "Too Much, Too Late", in particular with the "impression that it is trying to play catchup with C#". However it is not about C#, Java or whatever, it's simply the fact that C++ cannot be considered a modern language nowadays and no longer a universal tool for every kind of programming. It's true I'm not a C++ lover, but I work closely with some C++11 enthusiasts and I clearly see how they fail to realize that C++ is diverging even more from the other mainstream languages, which are modern, simpler and more effective. C++11 looks like a nice upgrade at first, but in my opinion it's the proof that it's time to look elsewhere.
BTW, a few days ago I wrote a post discussing, among the others, this argument (http://blog.absence.it/2013/06/why-do-you-prefer-java-to-c.html), where you can find a more detailed explanation about my opinion.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03682177485789310946noreply@blogger.com
